Suzuran Boys: A Designer’s Real-World Review
Designer Notes You’ll Actually Use
- Test it in black and white first. Color can mask spacing quirks—Suzuran Boys’ charm lives in its grayscale balance.
- Check small-size readability on real mockups. Not just on screen—print a 3x5 label, hold it at arm’s length, squint. If the ‘a’, ‘e’, and ‘o’ blur together, scale up.
- Compare uppercase vs. lowercase usage. Uppercase delivers stronger brand presence; lowercase adds intimacy—but only in headlines or short phrases.
- Review spacing manually. Kerning is solid out of the box, but tighten ‘To’, ‘AV’, and ‘Wa’ in logos. Loosen ‘LY’ and ‘Fr’ in display settings.
- Try it beside four core categories: a serif font, a sans serif font, a script font, and a contrasting display font. See where hierarchy clicks—and where it flattens.
- Confirm commercial licensing before client work. Suzuran Boys is a commercial font, but verify usage rights for digital products, SaaS platforms, or embedded PDFs.
